WhatsApp has recently released an update detailing preferred operating systems for using their app.
It has announced to stop working on millions of smartphones in the next few months as the messaging applicant giants have withdrawn support for older mobile platforms
Operating Systems Loosing WhatsApp Support:
The smartphones with these operating systems will not allow the use of WhatsApp in the near future are-
- iOS 8
- Android 2.3.7
- Windows Phones
Users, with the above-mentioned operating systems, are not allowed to create new accounts and re-verify their existing accounts. Some features on the app might also stop running at any time as they are no more actively developing the app for their existing operating systems.
Recommended Operation Systems to Continue WhatsApp:
The recently released notice has mentioned that smartphones with the following operating systems are suggested-
- iPhone iOS 9+
- Android OS 4.0.3+
- KaiOS 2.5.1+
If you are installed with these operating systems, do note down that the app can only be activated with one mobile number on one device at a time. For you are installing it for the first time, a verification code will be sent to your mobile number, after verifying it you can easily transfer the chat history.
Earlier, Facebook-owned messenger service has stated that it was a hard decision for them, but undertaken to offer better services to its users.
