Nokia-Branded Smart TVs Set To Unveil On December 5 In India

Nokia is approaching to enter smart television market in India, following the likes of OnePlus, Xiaomi, and Motorola and now we know when to expect the first Nokia-branded smart TVs.

As we are already aware of the fact, Flipkart has officially bought the rights to manufacturer as well as sell Nokia-branded smart televisions in India. Now, we here that e-commerce giant has now started rolling out launch event urging the media for the introduction of the said smart televisions on December 5 in India. It is reported that the e-commerce platform’s second teamwork with a popular brand for TVs, the first one being, Motorola. Flipkart also has smart televisions under its own MarQ TV, but mainly wants to influence the likeliness of the brands such as Motorola and Nokia.

However, the invite doesn’t reveal much about the upcoming products likely to unveil at launch event. It has only set the date and venue of the product launch. Flipkart has announced that Nokia-branded smart TVs will be manufactured in India and will exclusively sell on e-commerce platforms.

Besides, we also know that the forthcoming Nokia-branded smart TVs will be featured with JBL-powered Speakers. Other than this, features and specifications are limited and will be exposed at the time of launch.

It is a similar arrangement as to Nokia has entered into with HMD Global for its smartphones business. However, Nokia will be licensing its name to the e-commerce giant for production and selling of its smart TVs for a free. Hence, it isn’t the brand’s first venture into the line of TVs. Nokia did come up with a few of its own widescreen TVs back in mid-90s, and its efforts didn’t manage to go mainstream.

However, Nokia is not the only brand from that mobile world, approaching the smart television business. OnePlus has already unveiled its OnePlus TV Q1 and Q1 Pro back in September 2019, and Motorola has also united with Flipkart to allow the use of its brand value for smart TVs.
