This week, Apple releases a new firmware update for the AirPods models it released this year, the second-generation AirPods and the AirPods Pro. However, there is no new information from the company what’s new in the refreshed firmware. It is likely to say that it will come with bug fixes and other improvements.
On Dec. 16, the new firmware was released and it is now available for both the AirPods and the AirPods Pro truly wireless headphones. Earlier, the second-gen Airpods were running version 2A364. In November, they received a firmware update, running firmware version 2B588. Now with the latest firmware update, both the second-generation AirPods and the AirPods Pro are running firmware version 2C54.
However, there is no clear cut way to upgrade the firmware of the AirPods and AirPods Pro. Being an over-the-air update, it is possible it may take some time before the new software is available for all AirPods out there in the wild. Here is the way how you can check AirPods Firmware version.
- At first, make sure your iOS device is connected to your Airpods.
- Next, take out the AirPods from the charging case. No issue, if you don’t wear them in your ears.
- Now open the Setting app > General > About > AirPods Pro. You will find out the firmware version of your AirPods next to the Firmware Version on this page.
